The Duo Mobile smartphone app is available for iOS and Android. Administrators can create a new phone or tablet device in Duo and attach it to an existing user. However, these cannot be used for online authentication to Duo Authentication for Windows Logon (RDP), as U2F authentication is not supported. If you want to use a hardware token purchased separately, it must be a supported model, and you will need to bring it in to the Help Desk for initial setup. The Yubikey Bio Series FIDO edition Yubikey U2F-only security keys are supported for Offline Access in Windows Logon during a local console logon. Hardware tokens can be purchased from the Caltech Store (see below). If a service necessary to perform your job requires multi-factor authentication, it may be a good idea to set up both options (for example, have a hardware token as a backup in case your phone battery dies).

Users have the option of using the free Duo Mobile smartphone app or purchasing a hardware token. Return to the Multi-factor Authentication page for general information and instructions for getting set up. This page covers the options available for multi-factor authentication.
